Tips For Giving Your Immune System A Little Love And Support

Sleep More And Get In The Recommended Hours

Stop giving excuses for why you’re missing sleep or barely getting a few hours in each night. No party, assignment or TV series is worth losing sleep over. As an adult you should be getting a minimum of 7 hours sleep each night¾see that you do. If you’re kept awake due to something unavoidable, like a fussy infant, then try to get in a power nap of 20 minutes during the day; preferably before 3pm.

Eat More Homemade Meals

Make better use of your home kitchen. Learn to cook a few homemade meals that your immune system will thank you for. Stop giving the excuse of not having enough time to cook¾work around the problem by making ahead your week’s meals. Try to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables, doing your best to avoid eating processed food too often. It’s also a good idea to include omega 3 rich foods into your daily meals, as it helps boost your immune system as well.

 

Keep Your Body And Mind Hydrated

Dehydration causes your body to ache and lag, and your mind to be less active than it should be. Dehydration also gives your immune system a hard time, so aim to have at least 8 glasses of water each day. However, be cautious about drinking this all the time.

 

Exercise At Least 20 Minutes Each Day

Try to get in at least 20 minutes of exercise each day; regardless to whether it’s before you leave for work in the morning, or before you head to bed in the night. Along with this, it’s also a good idea to try and keep your body active throughout the day, moving about and helping your blood flow. Do that coffee run, walk to the window, get off your chair while you work…for all the little things count.

 

Reduce Your Alcohol And Cut Out The Smoking Entirely

If you’re a smoker, cut it out. Smoking is one of the biggest causes of a failing immune system. Likewise, the alcohol you consume has a pretty bad effect on your body as well. we recommend cutting it out entirely; but understand that unlike smoking, this can be a little tougher to cut out. If so, do your best to keep the consumption to a minimum; sipping on it instead of chugging it down.

Try Not To Get Unnecessarily Sick

Why tax your immune system unnecessarily? Do your best to avoid getting sick frequently. Wash your hands regularly with antibacterial soap. Avoid getting wet when possible, and showering very late at night. Visiting a sick friend is alright provided you maintain a healthy distance from them if their sickness is contagious.
