Cricket
Our Synthetic Cricket pitches are installed using a very high density, low pile (approximately 9 mm) synthetic grass, specially designed for cricket. This ensures a even and consistent bounce. It also reduced the potential for tripping due to depressions or uneven surfaces.
Synthetic Cricket grasses are generally without sand infill. Â Synthetic Cricket pitches use a very high density polypropylene yarn based grass that is glued directly to a concrete base.
These Synthetic Cricket wickets are
- a very low maintenance surface – no mowing, watering, feeding, weeding or re-sodding
- offer very high utilisation and thus return on investment
- All weather and quick drying
- Extremely hard wearing
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
An Extract from a “Cricket Victoria Message”
“… CV is aware that its Members and Councils install a range of styles of synthetic pitches. However, CV would like to remind all Members and Councils that it considers that the only type of synthetic pitch which is appropriate for play at the level expected by CV is a pitch which incorporates a 9mm synthetic surface over a concrete base. CV’s opinion, based on independent research, is that this type of pitch gives the most consistent playing surface; the bounce and pace of such pitches is even and predictable which promotes skill development and assists safety.
The independent research found that other types of synthetic pitches tested (Tested Pitches) have greater variation in pace and bounce which often arises from their design and also from how well they are maintained. Generally, the Tested Pitches other than the style of pitch endorsed by CV are slower and have a higher (or “trampoline” type) bounce.
CV considers that using its endorsed synthetic pitch is a positive for all players, but particularly for juniors who CV considers should be exposed to consistent playing surfaces. Due to different skill sets being required for different surfaces, if players (and, again, juniors in particular) are constantly playing on surfaces with different bounce and pace characteristics, their skill development, safety and confidence will likely be negatively affected. …”
